In 1983, VOLKSWAGEN Group Japan K.K. was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of VOLKSWAGEN AG. Since its establishment, the company has enjoyed a leading position in the Japanese import car market, with its products widely accepted by the Japanese customers.

On January 1, 2022, the company opened a new chapter with a merger with Audi Japan K.K., aiming to create synergies among the 4 unique brands, Volkswagen, Audi, Lamborghini and Bentley. Currently, VOLKSWAGEN Group Japan K.K. has a total of nearly 350 employees working in 3 locations (Toyohashi HQ, Tokyo Office, and Yokohama Office).

Internship possibility at VGJ
Volkswagen Group Japan KK offers a wide array of internships in business as well as administrative divisions. For those positions, we are looking for interns with a good command of the Japanese language, and who are interested in gaining working experience within an international working environment. The tasks will depend on the department.

For our office in Toyohashi, we are offering internships in the following departments:
Human Resources, Parts Logistics & After Sales

For our office in Shinagawa, we are offering internships in the following departments:
Communications, Product Planning / Sales, Marketing Communication, Volume Planning & Ordering / Sales

Preferred knowledge
Every position requires a good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook). Furthermore, communication skills as well as the ability to work in a team and self-dependently are needed. Depending on the department, a strong interested in the regarding business branch is wished. An economic background and experience in the regarding business branch is also preferred, but most of our departments focus on good Japanese skills.

Preferred language skills
 English fluency is a must
 German as mother tongue is highly preferred
 A good command of Japanese is required (N2 or better)

Additional assistance
Interns will be paid a scholarship of approximately 180.000 JPY a month (~20% taxes will be deducted). In Toyohashi, interns are provided with an apartment, and the rent will be deducted from the scholarship every month. Commuting costs up to 50.000 JPY will also be reimbursed every month. Other than that, we provide the interns with all the necessary documents and information they need for the visa application process and a successful start in Japan.

Visa requirements
Applicants who are not Japanese nationals need to be eligible to obtain the “Designated Activities (特定活動)” visa for an internship at Volkswagen Group Japan KK. Therefore, only students who fulfill the following conditions can apply for an internship in Japan:
1. Enrolled student at a university for the entire internship period
2. Doing the internship will require your university to sign a document confirming that the internship represents a mandatory or strongly recommended part of your university curriculum when applying for your visa
