Japan Travel’s Travel Agency desk is seeking a motivated German-speaking intern to help design and execute tailor-made experiences in Japan for our valued customers.
The ideal intern candidate will be able to assist in various stages of the sales funnel, generating leads, and retaining customers while using Japan Travel’s many resources. You will get experience working on actual client inquiries with guidance from a mentor, and other members of our team and use your initiative to generate rewarding solutions.

Start Date: ASAP
Working hours: Ideally 35 hours/week (flexible)
Location: Remote (from anywhere in the world), interns based in Japan can come into our Tokyo office if they wish to

What you’ll do:
• Research and generate lists of potential customers
• Help develop new client relationships and retain existing accounts
• Assist in communicating with suppliers
• Learn and apply sales techniques
• Learn and use the knowledge on inbound tourism in Japan
• Understand the German-speaking market(s) demographics, preferences and other specifics
• Prepare sales materials and presentations
• Maintain sales records
• Enter and organize information into contact/sales management systems

Required specialized knowledge

• Capacity to work remotely (have a decent network connection and laptop/computer that can smoothly run meetings Apps such as Zoom, work chat apps such as Slack)
• Availability to work for at least 5 months (mandatory)

Preferred language abilities

• Native or near-native German and business-level English, both verbal and written (mandatory)
• Japanese proficiency is not required but would be of advantage

Preferred skills

• Sales, Tourism, or Business major (preferred but not a must)
• A strong interest or specialization in Japan-related studies is highly beneficial
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with Google Workspace (Google Mail, Google Drive, Google Calendar) preferred
• Availability to work for at least 5 months (mandatory)

Additional assistance

• No remuneration but compensation for commuting expenses (applies to interns in Japan)
